6-month moratorium in place for CBD and vape shops in Hoover

A moratorium is now in place for certain businesses in the city of Hoover. Anyone seeking a business license for a CBD or vape shop will not be able to get one.

Hoover City Council President John Lyda says there is a need for more regulation of CBD stores at both the state and local level, this temporary halt to issuing business licenses for these types of establishments gives them time to do just that.

Lyda says city officials will be working closely with law enforcement and the economic development department to figure out the best plan of action.

“We certainly want to be in a position to allow these (businesses) to operate, and allow our residents and our visitors access to it. We also want to make sure it’s being done within the compounds of the law, and we want to make sure the products that are being sold are being sold to adults and not to minors… and that the products being sold are legal,” said Lyda.
